| Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment is a systematic non-intrusive
examination of a property. The property, including all rooms
in all buildings, is inspected and documented with the use
of drawings and photographs. The history of the property is
documented and checked through maps, deed records, aerial
photos, histories, archival photos, documents, and records.
Federal and state regulatory agency records are reviewed for
the presence of hazardous or potentially hazardous materials
on or near the property. Finally, people who now or in the
past were associated with the property are interviewed to
determine past activities at the site. Sampling and chemical
testing is not done as part of a Phase I Assessment.

* Even though MES's approach to Phase I Environmental
Site Assessments in Mexico will follow the ASTM Standard,
much of the information normally acquired in the United States
is not available in Mexico such as regulatory lists, site
information history and local regulatory agency information.
Therefore, the site visit and interviews will be heavily relied
upon for the findings and conclusions. For this reason, the
use of bilingual assessors takes on added importance.
